Dr. Ashley Harmon is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 13 years of experience. She specializes in geriatric psychiatry and provides thoughtful care for adults across the lifespan—from young adulthood through older adulthood.
She completed her undergraduate training at Xavier University of Louisiana. After that, she went on to complete her psychiatry residency at the University of Cincinnati, where she served as Chief Resident. She later completed her fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of Rochester.
Throughout her career, Dr. Harmon has worked in a variety of care settings. These include acute care, long-term care facilities, and residential treatment programs. As a result, she brings a broad and well-rounded perspective to patient care.
In addition, she spent much of her career within the VA Healthcare System. During that time, she held several leadership roles, including staff psychiatrist, Associate Program Director, and Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry. Because of this experience, she understands how to care for patients with complex and evolving needs.
At the same time, Dr. Harmon believes that care should always be individualized. She takes a compassionate, whole-person approach and works closely with each patient to create a plan that feels right for them.
Her approach may include counseling, medication when helpful, and advanced treatments like TMS. In addition, she focuses on helping patients build long-term strategies for improving their overall well-being.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Harmon has contributed to academic medicine. She has held faculty appointments at the University of Rochester, the Carle Psychiatry Residency Program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and UT Southwestern.
Through these roles, she has helped train future mental health professionals. At the same time, she remains committed to bringing the highest level of care to her patients.
Ultimately, Dr. Harmon’s goal is to help patients feel more like themselves again. She works to improve not only symptoms, but also quality of life, confidence, and daily functioning.
Just as importantly, she creates a supportive environment where patients feel heard, understood, and comfortable seeking care.
