Dr. Ayodya Perera is a family medicine physician providing comprehensive primary care for teens and adults ages 15 and older. She focuses on preventive care, chronic disease management, and helping patients take an active role in their health through shared decision-making and individualized treatment plans.

Originally from Sri Lanka, Dr. Perera spent part of her early childhood in Milan, Italy, before continuing her education and medical journey across different parts of the world. She earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Tbilisi State Medical University in Georgia and later completed her Family Medicine Residency through New York Medical College at Hoboken University Hospital.

Dr. Perera chose family medicine for the opportunity to build long-term relationships with her patients and provide ongoing care throughout different stages of their lives. She believes effective healthcare begins with understanding the individual and takes time to learn about each patient’s lifestyle, concerns, and personal health goals.

Her approach to care emphasizes collaboration. Rather than simply telling patients what they should do, Dr. Perera discusses available options and works with them to develop treatment plans that are realistic and manageable for their individual needs.

Her clinical interests include preventive care, diabetes, high blood pressure, weight management, women’s and men’s health, infectious diseases, and other common primary care needs. She also provides care geared toward teens and adolescents, including sports physicals, reproductive health, birth control counseling, and general health concerns.

Preventive medicine plays an important role in Dr. Perera’s approach to care. She looks beyond routine screenings to understand the everyday factors that may affect a patient’s health and helps identify changes that can reduce future health risks.
